Mr. Benny Ray Cavender, age 85, of Mayfield passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at Baptist Health in Paducah, KY.

He was a member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Mayfield, KY.  Benny was a graduate of Mayfield High School having lettered in football, baseball, basketball and golf.  He graduated from Murray State University with a golf scholarship.  Benny also loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.  He also was retired employee of Dunlop, a former employee of WoodmenLife and a U.S. Army veteran.

Mr. Cavender is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Lynn Cavender of Florence, AL; one stepdaughter, Debbie Jenkins of Florence, AL; three stepsons, Ronnie (Dina) of Hartselle, AL, Donnie Lear of Mayfield, KY and Lonnie Lear of Benton, KY; four grandchildren, Laken (Eric) Miller of Hickory, KY, Logan Lear of Mayfield, KY, Lonnie Lear, Jr. of New Hampshire and Jacqueline Lear of New Hampshire; one daughter-in-law, Jackie Lear of Mayfield, KY; and his caregiver, Henry Broach of Mayfield, KY.  He is also survived by many other family members.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Black; a stepbrother, Bill Bennett; his father, Virgil Cavender; and his stepfather and mother, Goble and Sue Goodwin Bennett.

Graveside services for Mr. Benny Ray Cavender will be 1:30 p.m. on Friday, October 10, 2025 at Mayfield Memory Gardens Mausoleum.  Ronnie Lear will officiate.  Entombment will follow.

Pallbearers will be Eric Miller, Tracy House, Brad Lowe, Rick Willis, Donnie Lear and Lonnie Lear.  Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Broach and Logan Lear.

Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Friday at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, KY.
