Rev. David W. Key, age 73, of Mayfield passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2026 at his residence.

He was a member of Trace Creek Baptist Church and served as Grief Share Coordinator.  He formerly pastored at Freemont Baptist Church, Iuka Baptist Church and South First Street Baptist Church.

Rev. Key is survived by one son, John Key of Mayfield, KY; one daughter, Rebecca (George) Messinger of Mayfield, KY; and one brother, Jimmie (Karen) Key of Cadiz, KY.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara McClendon Key; one son, Michael Andrew Key; two brothers, Lloyd Key and Rickie Key; one sister, Donna Key; and his parents, Bonell and Evelyn King Key.

Funeral services for Rev. David W. Key will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Trace Creek Baptist Church.  Rev. Ronnie Stinson, Jr. and Rev. Ronnie Stinson, Sr. will officiate.  Interment will follow at Trace Creek Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dave Roberts, Terry Madding, Jon Stinson, John Boyd, Mason Clapp and Michael Thomas.

Visitation will be 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 14, at the church.
