Obituary

Mr. Don "Doodle" Hendley, age 85, of Mayfield passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at Murray-Calloway County Hospital in Murray, KY.

He was founder of the Remnant Church, a Kentucky Colonel, the host of the WYMC Sonshine Program, and a retired insurance agent.  He also attended the First Assembly of God in Mayfield, KY.

Mr. Hendley is survived by his wife of 69 years, Barbara Hendley; two sons, Steve (Tancey) Hendley of Mayfield, KY and Richard (Sandy) Hendley of Melber, KY; one brother, Jim (Rita) Hendley of Huntsville, AL; one sister, Pam (Steve) Frizzell of Mayfield, KY; four grandchildren, Preston Hendley, Jacquelyn Hendley, Clifton (Maz) Hendley and Carey Beth (Zach) Dunn; and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Hendley; one daughter, Helen "ReaRea" Nance; and his parents, James "Doodle" and Betty Lancaster Hendley.

Funeral services for Mr. Don "Doodle" Hendley will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, KY.  Rev. Brad Morris will officiate.  Interment will follow at Highland Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Jobe, Preston Hendley, Clifton Hendley, Bubba Hendley, Richard Hendley and Stevie Frizzell.  Honorary pallbearers will be John Davis, Brad Morris, David Whaley, Jim Stephens, Gary Smith, Ed Richard, Fred Biggs, Johnny Hicks, Kenneth Sanderson, Mike Faulkner, Raymond Bailey, Voris Buck, Chuck Jobe, and Bubba Hendley.

Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
