Mr. Donald Lee Johnson, age 91, of Bowling Green, formerly of Mayfield, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2026 at Cardinal Landing Memory Care in Bowling Green, KY.

He was of the Baptist faith and lived a life full of love, patience, and kindness.  Don was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired accountant with General Tire and Rubber Company.  He enjoyed playing tennis and spending time at the local theatre where he often wrote, directed, and acted in plays.

Don's greatest joy in life was always his family.  He is survived by his daughter, Libby (Chris) Humphries; his son, Erik Johnson; four grandchildren, Shelby (Justin) Poland, Lucas (Krystal) Johnson, Drew Humphries, and Alex Humphries; two great grandchildren, Norah Poland and Lincoln Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Cook Johnson; his brother, Charles Johnson; and his parents, Guy and Delma Johnson.

Don spent the last several years in Bowling Green to be close to family.  The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Cardinal Landing Memory Care and Chandler Park Assisted Living for the love and amazing care they provided to Don over the last few years.

Funeral services for Mr. Donald "Don" Lee Johnson will be 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026 at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, KY.  Rev. Ben Stratton will officiate.  Interment will follow at Highland Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
