Glenda Faye Lyles Mason, age 85, passed away peacefully at Continued Care Hospital, Baptist Health Paducah, surrounded by her family.
Glenda was proud of her heritage and the fact that her grandfather was Dr. A. J. Bean of Brewers, Kentucky, one of the few doctors in the area at the time. She was a graduate of Brewers High School, there she was Senior Class President, and a lively member of the Brewers Red Men Cheerleading Squad.
Glenda married Gene Mason of Clear Springs, Kentucky in '54. They had three children. Glenda was a devoted wife and mother. She loved her family very much.
Glenda was a member of Trace Creek Baptist Church. Glenda was best remembered for her 20+ years of service as a receptionist at Mayfield Clinic/Hospital. There she loved to greet the families with a welcoming smile and warm conversation.
Mrs. Mason is survived by two sons, Steven Gene (Angie), and Terry Glen of Mayfield, and one daughter, Cheryl Gwen (Tony) Goodman of Hickory. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Brittainy Mason (Michael) Cansler of Hopkinsville, Tyler Mason (Alex) Goodman of Mayfield, Tristen Goodman (Travis) Frick of Boaz, MaKenzie Brice Mason of Mayfield. Five great-grandchildren; Peyton and Trevor Frick and Carter Hayden of Boaz, and Grace and Mason Cansler of Hopkinsville. One sister – Lita Adlich of Brewers, niece and nephew Connie Ellison of Murray and Greg Adlich of Paducah.
Glenda was proceeded in death by her loving husband Gene Alton Mason and her parents Virgil and Mavis Lyles.
Funeral services for Glenda Mason will be 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 21 st at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, Kentucky Brother Ronnie Stinson Sr. and Brother Keith Allred will be officiating. With visitation 12:00 – 2:00 pm on that day. Burial will follow at Brewers Methodist Cemetery, Brewers, Kentucky.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Goodman, Michael Cansler, Travis Frick, Greg Adlich, Tommy Lyles, Larry Treas, Steve Shelton and Keith Allred.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to be made in Glenda's name to Trace Creek Children's Ministry. 3577 State Route 131, Mayfield, Kentucky 42066.
