Obituary

Mrs. Glennis Orvetta Hiett, age 82, of Mayfield passed away on Monday, October 13, 2025 at her residence.

She was a member of Bellview Baptist Church, a retiree of USEC in Oak Ridge, TN.  She was also the owner and operator of Alterations by Glennis and a Hospice volunteer.

Glennis is survived by a daughter, Kimberlee (Bob) Spalding, Jr.; one son, Chris (Tonia) Purcell; one sister, Shirley Poat; eight grandchildren, Christopher (Kim) Purcell, Amanda Purcell, Jordan (Maggie) Purcell, Jill Purcell, Izzy Spalding, Robert (Jessyle) Spalding, Michael Lane and Shelli Tate; twelve great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild on the way.

She was preceded in death by one son, Jeff Purcell; two brothers, Gary Faughn and Robert Faughn; one brother-in-law, Michael Poat; one sister-in-law, Sherion Faughn; and her parents, Glenn and Maudine McIntosh Faughn.

Glennis was passionate about her faith, family, Sunday School class, crafting, sewing and quilting.  She was greatly appreciative of the new friends and services provided to her through Nuclear Care Partners, Professional Case Management and Hospice.

Funeral services for Mrs. Glennis Orvetta Hiett will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025 at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, KY.  Dr. Bob Whitter, Sr. will officiate.  Interment will follow at Highland Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Purcell, Robert Spalding, Greg Poat, Chuck Fountain, Bob Spalding, Jr. and Chris Purcell.  Honorary pallbearers will be new friends made through Nuclear Care Partners and Professional Case Management who cared for her and made it possible for her to remain in her home.

Visitation will be 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Camp Connect, a youth program, through St. Jerome Catholic Church in Fancy Farm, KY for the thoughtfulness and hard work done throughout the community and her home.
