Mr. Horace Dwain Yates, age 85, of Pilot Oak, KY passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at Jackson Purchase Medical Center.

He was a member of Pilot Oak Baptist Church, a retired employee of General Tire & Rubber Company and a U.S. navy veteran.

Mr. Yates is survived by one daughter, Carla Gayle (Mike Weaks) Yates of Pilot Oak, KY; one granddaughter, that he raised as his child, Christy Yates (Rev. Brian) Overstreet of Wickliffe, KY; one grandson, Denim (McKenzie) Eubanks of Eddyville, KY; three great grandchildren, Wyatt Overstreet, Yates Denim Eubanks and Wesley Raye Eubanks; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Carr Yates; one brother, Clyde Yates; and his parents, Horace and Hazel Patrick Yates.

Funeral services for Mr. Horace Dwain Yates will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, KY.  Rev. Rick Walker and Rev. Brian Overstreet will officiate.  Interment will follow at Pilot Oak Baptist Church Cemetery.

Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #26.

Pallbearers will be Denim Eubanks, Wyatt Overstreet, Brian Overstreet, Michael Carr, Austin Carr and Keith Lowry.  Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Miller, Bobby Hall, Max Curtsinger, Jerry Coltharp, Robert Emerson, James Sullivan, Michael Weaks, Freddy Sadler and Matthew Carr.

Visitation will be 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025 at the funeral home.
