Mr. John Ed Scott, age 89, of Mayfield passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at his residence.

He was a member of Northside Baptist Church, a cattle farmer and a retired employee of Coca Cola Bottling Company.

Mr. Scott is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Mathis Scott; one son, David (Tami) Scott of Saltillo, MS; two daughters, Lisa Scott (Tim) Larkins of Mayfield, KY and Maurita Scott (Bill) Nesmith of Tupelo, MS; five grandchildren, Nick Nesmith, Lindy Gordon, Mary Katherine Newton, Colby Scott and Meredith Scott; and two great grandchildren, Lola Gordon and Isabel Gordon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cletus and Louise Dowdy Scott and his stepfather, Brantley Prince.

Funeral services for Mr. John Ed Scott will be 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, KY.  Rev. Ronnie Stinson, Sr. will officiate.  Interment will follow at Stewart Cemetery in Calloway County.

Pallbearers will be Nick Nesmith, Colby Scott, Dale Woodall, David Shane Burgess, Mark Sullivan and Darrell Brewer.  Joe Mike III, Cliff Guthrie, Howel Carr, Charles Brewer and Fred Rouse will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2024 at the funeral home.
