Mr. Lanny James Hays, age 75, of Mayfield passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025 at Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield, KY.

He was of the Church of Christ faith, a retired employee of Continental General Tire and a U.S. army veteran.

Mr. Hays is survived by his wife, Teresa Ann Hays; his mother, Janice Hays of Patton, MO; one son, Lanny Eugene Hays of Mayfield, KY; one daughter, Melissa (Barry) Morgan of Mayfield, KY; five sisters, Lana LaKay Edwards of Lone Oak, KY, Sherri (Wendell) Johnson of Patton, MO, Tandi (Greg) England of Mayfield, KY,  Terry (Walt) Jones of Mayfield, KY and Kristi (Jeff) Thomas of Camden, TN; five grandchildren, Jordan (Chris Williams) Morgan, Tyler (Nicole Goldsmith) Morgan, Shelby (Hunter) Sheppard, Miranda Hays and Lanny Jace Hays; and nine great grandchildren, Kylin Morgan, Kameron Williams, Khloe Williams, Myla Morgan, Kobe Williams, Kade Williams, Kasen Sheppard, Tate Sheppard and Denver Morgan.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, James "Cork" Hays, Jack Hays and Randy Edwards; two sisters, Bobbie Lou Ann Spitler and Vena Gossum; one brother-in-law, Eugene Logsdon; and his parents, Orville and Christa Mae Harris Hays.

Funeral services for Mr. Lanny James Hays will be 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026 at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, KY.  Rev. Keith Allred and Kyle McKinney will officiate.  Interment will follow at Hays Family Farm, 475 Holland Rd., Hickory, KY.  Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #26.

Pallbearers will be Jackie Hays, Eric Hays, Billy Walker, Dan Bonderant, Raven Morphew, Greg England and Randie Baldree.  Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Alexander, Zach England, Sean Wright, Jason Acree, Terry Logsdon, John Logsdon, Mark Baldree and Chris Baldree.

Visitation will be 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
