Mark Wayne Fields, 82, of Mayfield, KY passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on August 3, 2026.

Alongside his loving wife, Cheryl Fields, Mark proudly owned and operated Fields Jewelers in Mayfield for 39 years.  Together, they built not only a successful business but also lasting friendships with generations of customers, earning a reputation for honesty, kindness, and exceptional care.

Mark is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Cheryl Fields; his daughters, Jan Ward of Dickson, TN and Rachel Fields of Mayfield, KY; his sister, Sharon Winter of Greenbush, MI; his eight beloved grandchildren, Madalyn, Mykah, Ryan, Meagan, Moriah, Ash, London and Truth.  He also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Marjorie Fields; his sister, Linda Decker; his son, Michael Fields; and son-in-law, Rich Ward.

Born on January 18, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan.  He graduated from Freed-Hardeman University, where he was an exceptional gymnast and received an education that reflected the values he carried throughout his life.  Mark proudly served his country in both the United States Air Force and the United States Army.

Mark's legacy is one of integrity, compassion, hard work, and love.  He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.

Funeral services for Mark Wayne Fields will be 12:00 noon on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, KY.  Rev. Gregg Hussey will officiate.  Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #26.

Visitation will be 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at the funeral home.
