Michael Kent Goodwin, age 78, of the Pilot Oak community passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at the Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield, KY.

He was a member of the Pilot Oak Baptist Church, and a member of the Cuba Masonic Lodge, Michael was an avid firearm shooter and enthusiast. A person who loved to debate with people with his wealth of knowledge and a persistent jokester.

Michael is survived by his son, John Michael (Olivia) Goodwin of Gallatin, TN; two grandchildren, Owen Michael Goodwin and Taylor Brogan; a former wife, Phyllis Canter Kelley and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman Clyde and Rachel Webb Goodwin; a former wife, Brenda J. Jones.

A memorial graveside service will be held 12:30PM Saturday, July 11, 2026 at the Pilot Oak Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends and family are asked to meet at the cemetery. He will also have a private Masonic service held in his honor. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Pilot Oak Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 5378 KY-94, Water Valley, KY 42085.
