Our loving mother, Rebecca Ann Cox, 89, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.
Born on June 17, 1936 to Henry J. and Clara Thomasson. Brothers Ernest Joe and Bobby Gene awaited her arrival. She Loved and cared for them dearly until their departure from this world, grieving them until her own. In 1952, Rebecca married William R. "Slim" Cox. Together they worked hard to establish the loving home we were blessed to have. When Alzheimer's disease impacted their lives, she became a completely devoted caregiver, tirelessly giving the best care to Slim in their home, until his passing.
She is survived by three children, Danny Cox of Kentucky, Devonna (Chuck) Alderson of Lone Oak, KY and Tracy Madding of Hickory, KY; four grandchildren, Brandon Cox, Krista Cox, Austin (Becca) Madding of Paducah, KY and Misha (Devin) Sams of Fancy Farm, KY; four great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry J. and Clara Thomasson; two brothers, Ernest Joe (Dolly) Thomasson and Bobby Gene (Ruth) Thomasson; one son-in-law, Tim Madding; and one great grandchild, Braxton Timothy Sams.
Funeral services for Mrs. Rebbeca Ann Cox will be 12:00 p.m. on Friday, November 21, 2025 at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, KY. Rev. Jared Baker will officiate. Interment will follow at New Sand Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Austin Madding, Devin Sams, Terry Madding, Mike Mohler, Wesley Cole and Kobe Burnett. Honorary pallbearers will be Braylor Sams and Lottie Madding.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
The family would like to say a special thank you to all of the caregivers, both private and in the nursing facility, that took care of our mother.
