Robert B. Creason Sr., age 92, of Mayfield, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 10, 2023, in Franklin, Tennessee, with his family by his side. Robert (Bob) was born in Mayfield, Kentucky on August 27, 1931, to the late William Henry Creason, Sr. and Helen Carr Creason.

A lifetime resident of Mayfield, where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He was named to the Kentucky State High School 1st Team All State football teams both in 1947 and 1948 at the center position before graduating in 1949. He is the only Mayfield High School football player to make the 1st team twice since the football program started in 1919. He also was a member of the "M" Club. Before graduation, he was a proud camp counselor leading young men from Western Kentucky to Camp Petosega located in Alanson Michigan. Following graduation, he attended both the University of Pennsylvania and Centre College where he played football for both institutions. He graduated from Centre College in 1953. After graduating, he joined the United States Army where he was stationed at Orly Air Base outside of Paris, France. During his leave from military service, he and his new bride, Coley, were fortunate to explore the beauty and culture of countries in Europe. He earned both the National Defense Service and Good Conduct Medal's prior to his honorable discharge in 1955.

Bob returned to Mayfield where he helped form Creason Supply Co. in 1956, a regional plumbing wholesaler, and served as its President until he sold the company in 1985. During his 30-year tenure as President of Creason Supply Co., he served on the board of directors of the Central Supply Association and volunteered in leadership positions in both Boy and Girl Scouts as well as the American Red Cross. Bob finished his career with Crouch Sales in Nashville, Tennessee. While living in Nashville, he served on the board of directors of The Better Business Bureau of Nashville/Middle Tennessee, Inc. He retired and returned to Mayfield in 1996 after spending 10 years as a Nashville resident. Bob served the Mayfield Graves County communities in many ways, including as Chairman of the administrative board and elder of the First Christian Church. He was a member of the First Christian Church, on the board of the Graves County Public Library and a stockholder and member of the Mayfield Graves Country Club where he also served a term as President. Bob was well known in the community as a great fan of Mayfield High School athletic programs, especially football. He enjoyed spending time mentoring and encouraging young players on and off the field, court, and course. Bob was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, an avid golfer and lover of all sports. He was known for his sports trivia knowledge and could often site teammates, positions, and years of championships of high school, college, and professional sporting teams. He was also a lover of music including artists like Stan Kenton, Dionne Warwick, Diana Ross, Neil Diamond, Barbara Streisand, Burt Bacharach, and Henry Mancini to name a few.

He is survived by sons Robert B. (Cindy) Creason, Jr, of Chattanooga, Tennessee and James B. (Jeremy) Creason, of Nashville, Tennessee; daughter Colegate Creason (David) Bell, of Avon Lake, Ohio; six grandchildren, Parker (Courtney) Bell of Avon Lake, Ohio, Jordan Bell of Denver, Colorado, Bo Creason of Louisville, Kentucky, Will (Christine) Creason of Nashville, Tennessee, Kendall (Nathan) Winder of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Caroline Creason of Tampa, Florida. Also surviving are step-grandchildren Madison (Aaron) Meeker, and Mackenzie Green, both of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Great grandchildren surviving are Emmeline and George Bell, Thomas and Charlotte Creason, Neely Jo Winder, and Nora Meeker. Lastly, but not least, surviving is special friend Phyllis Dublin of Hickory, Kentucky. He is preceded in death by his brother William Henry Creason, Jr., and sister, Ruth Carr Brown; parents William Henry Creason Sr. and Helen Carr Creason; and loving wife of 57 years, Colegate Bascom Creason.

The family is grateful for the devoted and loving care of his caregivers over the past few years at both The Bungalows of Mayfield and NHC Place of Cool Springs. A graveside memorial service, officiated by Dr. Milton West, for friends and family will be held at Highland Park Cemetery on Saturday, October 14 at 1:00 PM with a celebration of life reception following at the Mayfield Graves Country Club in Mayfield Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the First Christian Church, PO Box 799, Mayfield, KY 42066. Arrangements are by Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, Kentucky.
