Mrs. Wanda Sue Matheny, age 92, of Mayfield passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at her residence.

She was a member of Hickory Baptist Church and a retired employee of the Merit Clothing Company with 26 years of service.

Mrs. Matheny is survived by one son, Jackie (Kathy) Matheny of Mayfield, KY; two daughters, Arlene (Michael Bruce) Hawkins of Mayfield, KY and Debbie Sue (Dale) Wilson of Wingo, KY; two brothers, Ronnie Ray of Benton, KY and Kenneth Ray of Springfield, MO; seven grandchildren, Brad Powers, Chad Powers, Mitzi Stanley, Kelly Camp, Sara Clark, Jay Matheny and Sheena Skaggs; nine great grandchildren; and  three great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben Matheny; one brother, J. C. Ray; two sisters, Shirley Beach and Kathlene Wright; and her parents, Tilmon and Ora Mae Goodin Ray.

Funeral services for Mrs. Wanda Sue Matheny will be 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, KY.  Rev. Ronnie Stinson, Sr., Jay Matheny and Rev. James Franklin will officiate.  Interment will follow at Highland Park Cemetery,

Pallbearers will be Chad Powers, Brad Powers, Jay Matheny, Grayson Matheny, Alec Clark, Hunter Parham, Lane Lunsford and Jacob Wilson.

Visitation will be 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
